There are two categories of images that can be added to the Canadian Great War Project. One is to add images that are associated with a specific individual. To upload thes, find the individuals record, scroll down to the bottom of the form and click on the "Add Image" link.

When uploading general images to the site, we ask contributors to keep in mind two things; first of all you must be the copyright holder of the image you wish to upload. This does not mean you cannot add images belonging to friends, etc., as long as you have permission from them (Note although the name of the individual uploading the image is the default name in the "Copyright text" box, the name may be altered by simply clicking inside the box). The second point we have to stress is the image must be under 50 Kb in size as larger images increase the use of the site's bandwidth which in turn slows down the site as well as incurs further charges. If you have an image which you feel is important to maintain as a larger image, please contact the administrator.

 

As for uploading images, select "add image", then either enter the file name or choose browse to go to the location the image is stored on in your computer. Once this is done select upload the image. Once this is done, the image will come up on screen with several boxes below. In the image box, we ask you give an appropriate title to the image plus you may insert a link to the individual's file on the CGWP or some other area on the site which is pertinent. In the source field, please put the original source for the image, which could be "Personal Image", or "Copied from xxx" where xxx is a book or document that is not under copyright. Under the Notes section, anything of interest with respect to the image may be posted here.

 

The final step is to select "Add image" which will add the image to our database
