Captain British Infantry 3rd Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps
Capt. Ward is the son of Colonel Ward of the 60th, and a member of the 3rd Battalion of the Kings Royal Rifles.  He served in the South African War and the siege of Ladysmith and retired from active service in 1907, shortly after which he came to Gleichen and purchased a farm two miles east of town.
