Utility

CEF Names

PC only application to assist in searching through the Soldiers from the First World War index on the Libraries and Archives Canada site. Note that this application is a very large download due to the size of the database. Approximatly 160 MB of free disk space is required to install this. this application will only work on a Windows based PC. This program also requires the Microsoft Visual Basic Runtime libraries, which are already installed on most comuters, but if not are available free of charge here.

Version 4 is a major re-write of the program and database. See the ReadMe file for some information on the changes, and a request for some help improving the content of the database.

There were 257 downloads of previous releases.

Note:

This program wil not run under Microsoft Vista. Microsoft made significant changes in the way that programs and components are installed with Vista. I spent several evenings attempting to get the installer to run under Vista, without success, and don't have the time to pursue it further. If anyone has the technical expertise to write an installer for me, I'd be happy to work with them. Also, if anyone would like to try to install it manually on a Vista machine, I'd be happy to provide the files and components.

I have also removed installer support for Windows 95/98. If anyone would like to try to install it manually on a Win 95/98 machine, I'd be happy to provide the files and components.
