| Canadian Virtual War Memorial |
Managed by Veterans Affairs Canada, this site proves a lookup for an individual who served and gave their lives for their country.
The site provides details on the individual, including the cemetery and plot of burial.
This is an ongoing project and the VAC encourages the submission of photos to add to the collection. |
| Soldiers of the First World War |
This site includes digital images of the Attestation Papers for individuals who fought in the First World War, and provides details on how to order war records. The work is ongoing and not all records have been digitized yet. It is not a simple task to find specific individuals. The easiest way is to use the regimental number, if available. |
| War Diaries of the First World War |
This site provides digital renderings of the Diaries filled by all units, either at the Division, Regiment or Battalion level. The unit name is sometimes cryptic to get correct. If you are looking for the 31st Battalion you would need to enter "31st Canadian Infantry Battalion", if you were looking for the Canadian Grenadier Guards you would enter "87th Canadian Infantry Battalion" |
| Commonwealth War Graves Commission |
This site has similar information to the Canadian Virtual War Memorial, but since they are maintained separatly, they may have slightly different information. As a rule, the CWGC site tends to be more accurate. |
