CEF Soldiers by Country

In 1914 many of the young men of Canada were immigrants or first generation Canadians, many with family ties to England. Many of these men were quick to join the CEF when war broke out. Some of our American cousins came across the border to join the CEF, prior to the United States declaring war in 1917.

This page sumarizes the information in the database by country of birth, where known.
