Uploader's Research notes: Source: LAC file [Lieutenant Army Canadian Infantry 101st Battalion Appointed as a Lieutenant with the 101st Battalion when it first mobilized. Reverted to the rank of private at his own request, in order to transfer to the 61st Battalion Private Army Canadian Infantry 61st Battalion C Company Proceeded to England with the 61st Battalion Private Army Canadian Infantry 44th Battalion Taken on strength after the 61st Battalion arrived in England. His pay card gives his transfer date at April 30. Attached to Base Detail, Shorncliffe from August 22 to November 27. Rejoined the 44th Battalion in the field on December 12. Wounded by artillery shell (shell shock) on January 09. Three days later he was hit in the back by shell fragments. Although shaken and badly bruised, he remained at duty. He was shot on April 11, during the battalion attack on Hill 145 at Vimy Ridge, and died of his wounds later that day ]
