Born 8th May, 1886, at Almonte, Ontario, Canada. Father, James R. Mordy (retired).
Educated at Almonte and Pembroke High Schools. Entered the service of the Bank, 28th October, 1907. Enlisted, December, 1914, from Winnipeg branch, where he was Accountant, in 43rd Battalion (Cameron Highlanders of Canada), with the rank of Lieutenant. Transferred to 16th Battalion (Canadian Scottish), 17th July, 1915. Promoted Captain, 1st May, 1917; Major, 15th September, 1917. Principal actions: Ypres, 1916; Hill 70, Passchendaele, 1917; Amiens, Arras, Cambrai, 1918.
Appointed A Companion of THE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE ORDER (1918)
