Feb 13, 1919, 6 - Dr Dixson, of Tofino, has received a letter from his son, Lieut C [Charlie] S Dixson, 78th Bn, Winnipeg Grenadiers, containing the information that he has been awarded the Military Cross for operations carried out near Valenciennes. Lieut Dixson was formerly accountant in Merchants’ Bank at Brooks, AB and latterly superintendent of Kennedy Lumber Co, SK. August 10, 1932, 15 - funeral service for Charles Gordon Scott Dixson, son of late Dr D S Dixson, of Tofino, who predeceased his son and was buried at Tofino only one month ago, was conducted at Ahousaht. Dixson died at Port Alberni and his remains were brought to Tofino by Princess Norah and conducted to his late residence and subsequently to the Ahousaht Cemetery upon the Tofino lifeboat.

Members of the Clayoquot Sound branch of the Canadian Legion attended the funeral, 6 of whom acted as pallbearers: Comrades J Mitchell, R Brinckman, H Sloman, H Macleod, J Thornberg, Fred Thornberg. The casket was draped in the Union Jack and upon a purple cushion reposed the deceased’s war decorations, the Military Cross, General Service and Victory Medals, also his military cap and badge. He was only 42, he died of heart trouble, accentuated by war service. He served overseas with the 78th Battalion Winnipeg Grenadiers, winning his commission on the field, and was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry in the field at the capture of the French city of Valenciennes.

For the past 12 years and up to a few weeks of his death Dixson was employed as Dominion Government telegraph linesman and agent for the Ahousaht-Sydney Inlet section of the west coast telegraph service. He leaves his widow, daughter, and sister, Winnifred Dixson, of Tofino.
