Gave DOB on attestation papers as Nov 10, 1898. DOB on 1911 census (Inverness county, Nova Scotia) is Nov, 1900.

He died in hospital on May 5, 1917, at age 16, while in training in England. He is buried in Bramshott (St. Mary's) Cemetery. One source states "... although but a lad of sixteen, being large and mature for his years, managed to enlist."
