Son of Benjamin Burgess and the late Elizabeth Burgess; husband of Ethel Ruth Burgess, of 177, Park Row Avenue, Hamilton, Ont. A letter dated Oct. 23, 1914 from Pte. Albert T. Burgess, appeared in the Dundas Star newspaper on November 12, 1914. A copy is available on this website in the Letters section. Pte. Burgess indicated on his September 1914 military attestation that he had 9 years experience with the Wentworth militia regiment, and for years with the Army Medical Corps. Pte. Burgess is one of the Hamilton Ontario war dead and is remembered by the Hamilton Cenotaph. Although the names are not inscribed on the cenotaph, a copy of the names is displayed in scroll at the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry museum at the Hamilton Armouries. A photo of his Hamilton, Ontario, grave taken in early 2006 appears on the Canadian Virtual War Memorial. M. I. Pirie |
