Article in Toronto Star, November 9, Page 2 states he died of blood poisoning, 'acute septicaemia', possibly contracted when he was 'camping out' in the Otterpool area of England.  His father, Rev. T.B. Hyde, was informed by the surgeon-general of the Royal Horse Artillery - to which Leslie had recently been promoted from the ranks of the University Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery.  The illness had baffled the doctors to the extent that they had consulted with Sir Arbuthnot Lane, one of the greatest surgeons in England, prior to performing an operation to try and cure him.

An earlier article in the Toronto Star of October 30 stated that he was buried with full Military Honours, in Kilkenny, Ireland, the birthplace of his father and the current residence of his grandparents.
