On 16/8/17 on Hill 70, just before the attack on the CHALK PIT, this soldier was employed as a runner to take a message to “A” and “C” Companies of the Battalion. Just after leaving headquarters he was wounded in the legs, but continued on until he had delivered the message, afterwards returning with the receipt. The message was of great importance.
