Born 18th January, 1897, at Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Father, C. B. Kelly, Manufacturer. Educated at Huntingdon Academy. Entered the service of the Bank, 27th November, 1915, Enlisted, 26th December, 1916, from Huntingdon branch, in 79th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery, with the rank of Gunner. Transferred to 6th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery, 27th May, 1917. Principal actions : Hill 70, Passchendaele, 1917; Arras, Amiens, Drocourt-Queant Switch Line, 1918. Transferred to England for training for commission, but returned to Canada on account of being medically unfit, before completion of course. Demobilized, 9th December, 1918. Subsequently attached to Invalid Soldiers' Commission for treatment.
