Uploader's Notes:

Originally enlisted with the 110th Battalion but must have been transferred to the 58th Battalion since the 58th War Diaries cited his excellent work at Passchendaele on October 26, 1917.

Dated:2013 Nov 11: Submitted by RL Kompf

He was a neighbour who advised as I was heading off to RMC, "Get all the education you can, It's not heavy to carry."

He died 1955 Nov 5 and is buried in Avonbank Cemetery, Downie Township, Perth County, Ontario. His headstone is marked with a black cross on gray stone and is inscribed, "Lt. Cecil M. Fulcher / DCM MM & Bar / Croix de Guerre / Kings Corporal / 1895 - 1955". I am scanning my files for a picture of the headstone and will submit it when found. Attempts to trace process of providing the headstone is believed to have involved the Royal Canadian Legion, St. Marys Branch and DVA, but attempts to locate records were fruitless.

I accessed personal files available in Archives in Ottawa, but not any war diaries. The files I saw were very scant, but towards the end did mention his rank as "O/Cdt". (Sorry, details have been lost.) He ended service 1919 Feb 13.

At the time of the erection of his headstone, lore has it that some of his mates from the Listowel area in attendance commented that the headstone detail, "Weren't the half of it!!"

There may be more story, so I keep on searching and welcome any guidance and input. RLK
