The No. 2 Construction Battalion (an all Black battalion) served in France with the majority of the men being assigned to the No. 5 Canadian Forestry Corps (Jura Group).

All but one of the battalion's 19 officers are white. The exception is the chaplain, Honorary Captain William A. White, who will be the only black person in this war to hold the King's commission.

Legacy Voices update: Hon. Captain White was not the only Black person to hold the King's Commission in The First World War.
