Uploader's Notes: Brother of FJ Baillie, r/n 700797. Discharged due to demobilization on May 14, 1919 at Toronto, Ontario. Enlisted with 18th Field Company, Royal Canadian Engineers for service in World War Two, with regimental number B27024. Hugh Baillie died of illness while returning to Canada aboard the Hospital Ship Lady Nelson on November 16, 1943. He was buried at sea and, having no known grave, is commemorated on the Halifax Memorial, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

[Private Army Canadian Infantry 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Central Ontario Regiment Transferred to the Central Ontario Regimental Depot for administrative purposes while convalescing. On March 14 was discharged to Witley Camp for duty. On April 08 was posted to CCC Kinmell Park pending return to Canada. Left England aboard the SS Cassandra on May 02, 1919. Private Army Canadian Militia 97th Regiment, Algonquin Rifles Sergeant Army Canadian Infantry 159th Battalion Served with the 97th Regiment prior to enlisting. Promoted to corporal in January 1916. Sailed with the 159th Battalion aboard the SS Empress of Britain between October 31 and November 10, 1916. Promoted to sergeant on November 11, 1916. Sergeant Army Canadian Infantry 8th Reserve Battalion Private Army Canadian Infantry 4th Regiment Canadian Mounted Rifles C Company Voluntarily reverted to private on posting to the 4th CMR. Joined his new unit in the field at Tay Camp. Belgium on November 02, 1917. Seven days later, while on a working party repairing a light railway, was wounded in the left hand. Was evacuated to hospital at Le Treport. Returned to the battalion on December 13. From April 08 to November 15, 1918 was attached to the 8th Trench Mortar Battery. Awarded a Good Conduct Badge on February 11, 1918. On February 04, 1919 was hospitalized with influenza. He was evacuated to England on February 20.
