RESEARCH INFORMATION

Uploader's Notes:

An article published December 2nd, 1916 in the Regina Leader, indicated that Dr. Wood (first name not given), had recently arrived in England from Herbert, Saskatchewan. She was a graduate nurse as well as a Physician, holding a medical degree from the Chicago College of Medicine.

In Canada she had worked as a recruiting officer, and was credited with recruiting over 700 men in five months.

Canadian women at that time could not serve within the Canadian army as doctors, despite their training, so they had to go across as Nursing Sisters.

According to the attached report, Dr. Wood intended to work as a Red Cross nurse.

Uploader's Research notes: The online attestations were checked for a Dr. Wood of Herbert, Saskatchewan, but no match was found.
