Uploader's Research notes: [Lieutenant Air Force Royal Flying Corps 74th Squadron RAF Lt. Skedden was killed on the 8th May 1918. He was returning from fighting the German fighter planes over Ypres, Belgium. He had been involved in heavy dog fighting and was not aware that his plane had been it by enemy fire which had weakened the struts attaching the wings to the plane. On approach to the aerodrome he did a half loop in celebration of their return but the strain on his aeroplane was too much and the wings collapsed and he crashed onto the airfield and burst into flames. Lt Skedden was a close friend of Ira "Taffy" Jones, the famous Welsh WW1 Ace and Ira makes reference to their friendship in his book about the famous RAF 74th Squadron - the Tigers.
