Joined the P.P.C.L.I. in August 1914 [an original]. Son of Henrietta and the late James Arbuthnot Keith of Stotfield, Lossiemouth, Scotland. Formerly of the Canadian Bank of Commerce, Herbert, Saskatchewan.

Served 9 years Highland Light Infantry.

Company Sergeant-Major. Born 30th November, 1887, at Inchberry, Scotland. Father, James A. Keith, Schoolmaster. Educated at Lossiemouth Public School. Entered the service of the Bank, 7th August, 1913. Enlisted, August, 1914, from Herbert branch, in Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, with the rank of Sergeant. Promoted Company Sergeant-.Major. Principal action: Kemmel, 1914.

Died of meningitis at No. 14 General Hospital, Boulogne, France, 17th February, 1915, and buried at The Cemetery, Wimereux.

NOTE: The late Company Sergeant-Major Keith was one of a party of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry who were the first representatives of Overseas regiments to reach the front line in December, 1914, at Kemmel, Belgium.
