Son of William Wilkinson (Service No. 510886) and Theresa Julia Wilkinson (nee McCarthy); younger brother of Reuben Wilkinson (Service No. 413097); older brother of Albert Wilkinson (Service No. 404493) and John Wilkinson (Service No. 2499683). Wilkinson was not married, but he prepared and signed a death-bed will the day he died, bequeathing all monies owed to him to Dorothy Osborne for the upkeep of his daughter, Dorothy

Originally attested September 16, 1915 with the 58th Battalion (Service No. 453718), but was rejected as Physically Unfit. Attested in the 123rd Battalion November 20, 1915 (Service No. 766311)

According to war diary of 9th General Hospital dated February 10, 1919 here and here: 766311 Pte. Wilkinson W. CAMC of this unit was today buried in Bodelwyddan church yard - all the personnel of this unit not on duty attended.
