Sarcee Camp to Open Next Week

Calgary - May 20.  Great activity prevails in military circles on the eve of the opening of the annual training camp for military district No. 13 at Sarcee reserve.  Brig.-General Cruikshank and his staff will take up their quarters under canvas on Monday and the 137th Calgary battalion also go in on that day, its advance party being now on the ground.

Battalions from all parts of the province will follow during the ensuing week.  The military authorities estimate that the total number of troops under canvas here at any one time will vary from 6000 to 8000.

It was announced this morning that the district infantry school which has been conducted by Major DeKam in one of the city schools will also be moved to camp next week, and all candidates for lieutenant's certificates will for the summer be compelled to live in camp and to conform to regular military discipline throughout the 24 hours.
